Learning Management System/Experience Platform Alpha: Results
At the end of November 2021 we had a final sprint and wrap-up session for the LMS/LXP Alpha! Now that we’re in the New Year, we thought it would be a good time to give a final update on the alpha work and what our next steps are going to be.
Results
During our final sprint (Sprint 8) and the weeks afterwards, we finalised the user research, the user experience audit, and the results in the evaluation matrix. All of this information was wrapped up into a final report which was sent to the Welsh Government Digital Transformation Fund team for them to read.
We also shared the individual platform results with the platform owners so that they were able to see the results of the testing and feedback for their site and met with them to discuss the results. Additionally, we met with the Steering Group and held a Show and Tell session to share the result of the report.
The final result was that we recommended Thinqi as the online learning experience and management system for Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, and Merthyr Tydfil councils. We’re also aware from our Steering Group sessions that there are 15 other local authorities who are interested in further work around this.
Next steps
Now the report has been submitted, we need to wait for the result from the Fund. If they agree that the work is able to move to a beta phase, a new Delivery Manager will take the lead on this piece of work. There’ll need to be a demonstration of the platform to any interested authorities, the steering group will need to reconvene, and there’ll need to be an opportunity to add to or amend the requirements document to ensure that it meets other authorities’ needs – and that’s just the start! If beta work begins, we’ll be blogging about the next steps for this as soon as it starts. Watch this space!
