We’re running a series of funded digital training sessions and courses over February and March for local authorities, from our training partner Basis Training. There’s a range of topics covered, all with a focus on local government and how you can use the tools and techniques in your organisation.

Content Community of Practice 

Our next Content Design Community of Practice is taking place on Tuesday 31 January 11am to 12pm. In the session we’ll be talking about standards, principles, and guidelines, and how these can be captured and communicated in a way that’s most valuable for local authorities. If you’d like to attend, email digitalteam@wlga.gov.uk and we’ll send you an invite.

Team Update  

We now have our new Head of Agile Delivery, Lindsey Phillips, who has joined us from Powys County Council. Lindsey has been motoring around Wales over the last few weeks meeting our local authorities to discuss our work and share ideas on where we can add value to the world of digital in local government. We’re currently working on our new strategy for April, based on the feedback we’ve received, and will be out to have more discussions with teams in the next few months.  

Digital Update  

Our next digital update session will be on Wednesday 15 February 11am to 12pm. We’ll be giving an update on our work so far this year, including the Digital Transformation Fund projects and the progress on our new strategy. If you’d like an invite, please let us know by emailing digitalteam@wlga.gov.uk 

Digital Transformation Fund 

We have 6 projects receiving funding this year, and as part of their funding agreement, the teams will be providing show and tells in the coming months to share their work. As soon as we have dates and times, we’ll circulate these so you can attend any you find interesting. Please feel free to share them with others in your authority. 

The first show and tell for the Fund’s content discovery project is taking place on Thursday 9th February at 11am-12pm.

The first show and tell for the Fund’s LMS/LXP project will be on 16 February at 4pm – 5pm.

CDPS are running their next seminar from the Attract Recruit Retain series on Retaining DDaT Talent, on Thurs 9 Feb at 12:00 – 13:00. You can book a space using this link

CDPS user centred lunch and learns

CDPS will be running a series of free lunch and learn sessions for people in organisations delivering public services devolved to Wales. The sessions will be practical and are designed to help practitioners develop the skills to start putting users at the centre of service design. They are 30 minutes long and are part of Campws Digidol – CDPS’s digital training programme.

The first session covers how to use research to improve your service and will include a free takeaway step-by-step guide.

We’re running pilot workshops on 3 of the Digital Service Standards for Wales and would love you to come along and have your say.

The dates for west Wales and north Wales are as follows:

  • Carmarthen, Carmarthen Library (31/01/2023) 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Ynys Môn, M-SParc Menai Science Park (07/02/2023) 10:00am – 12:00pm
